Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada assists low-income seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities who have owned their home for at least one year. Below is a description of current programs and repairs we perform
Critical Home Repair
Through this program we provide repairs and replacements of systems that are critical to the safety and survival of our clients. Repairs are made by licensed contractors. These include repairs to:
- Heating and air conditioning
- Water heater
- Plumbing systems
Safe at Home
The Safe at Home Program addresses smaller, but very needed repairs. Repairs are completed in-house by our program staff. When one of these repairs is made, our staff will additionally perform a 25 point Safe and Healthy Priorities assessment on the home. This assessment helps identify any additional needed repairs or installs to return the home to a safe and healthy standard. These repairs include:
- Grab bars
- Smoke detectors
- CO detectors
- Fire Extinguishers
- Bathroom modifications
- Replacing flooring (when it is a trip and fall hazard)
- Door repair and installation
- ADA accessibility modifications
- Minor structural changes that provide accessibility
NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY & MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY
Our two main volunteer days are National Rebuilding Day in April and Make a Difference Day in October. Community partners adopt a home and have their employees volunteer to perform non-critical repairs on the home. This consists of:
- Property Clean-up
- Debris removal
- Exterior home painting
- Minor exterior repairs
Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada additionally partners with multiple organizations to perform focused, neighborhood centered revitalizations. We typically organize about one a year. During these revitalization events, our staff, community partners, and volunteers will participate in at least one of these
- Community clean-up
- Nonprofit Facility Rehabilitation
- Neighborhood education
- Community garden builds
In order to qualify for any of the above programs that RTSNV offers, you must meet the following requirements.
Prospective clients will be asked to complete a short informational form and provide a copy of proof of identity with photo and income documents, i.e., social security and/or disability award letter, 2 months’ bank statements. All information is held in confidence.
Requirement 1: Own and live in your home. You must have owned your home for at least one year. Having a mortgage is acceptable.
Requirement 2: Be low income according to HUD guidelines. Example: Household income cannot exceed $48,000 annually for a family of two.
Requirement 3: Every person on the home’s deed must be currently residing within the home.
