PROGRAM SPECIALIST

The Program Specialist will work independently in the field to complete free health and safety home repairs for our low-income seniors, Veterans and individuals with disabilities throughout Southern Nevada. They will work to complete home assessments and develop scopes of work with program staff. They will provide excellent customer service and build trust with clients in a respectful and culturally competent manner. The position will require a demonstrated ability and continuous effort to improve operations, decrease project turnaround time, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with staff, subcontractors, volunteers, clients, and community partners.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Project Coordination:

  • Completes home assessments and determines scopes of work with Project Manager.
  • Plans all phases of rehab process including scheduling, and labor and material needs with Project Manager’s support.
  • Completes a variety of home repair projects including, but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, basic home maintenance, safety aid installation and painting.
  • Ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to code. Reports unsafe or hazardous conditions.
  • Maintains work areas in a clean, professional manner.
  • Uses lead‐safe work practices.
  • Ensures high client satisfaction rates.
  • Assists with all aspects of community event planning, implementation, supervision, and wrap‐up.

Administration:

  • Maintains complete records in our CRM system of client info, repair work, mileage, project costs, and time as specified by Project Manager.
  • Maintains and securely stores program materials, supplies, tools and equipment inventory.
  • Anticipates and identifies client needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Program Outreach:

  • Serves as ambassador for RTSNV in the community.
  • Encourages client word of mouth referrals.
  • Participates in canvassing projects.
  • Attends RTSNV‐hosted events.

Specific Job Skills:

This position requires residential rehab project coordination experience as well as demonstrated trades skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, general home maintenance, and power and hand tool safety. A knowledge base in building codes and the permit process is essential, as well as the ability to be bonded. The project specialist must be flexible and reliable, and able to multitask with several projects simultaneously. They will be required to work independently and must be able to complete tasks on time. They must possess excellent verbal and interpersonal skills—able to communicate effectively and build trust with diverse clients, in a respectful and culturally competent manner both on the phone, in writing, and in person. Must also have a current valid driver’s license. Bilingual in Spanish is a bonus. Computer literacy is a must.

Job Conditions:

Requires use of a variety of hand and power tools, chemicals and paints. Requires periods of walking, standing, stooping, working in confined spaces or heights, and lifting or moving objects weighing up to 60 pounds on a regular basis; 100 pounds on an irregular basis. The Program Specialist works weekdays during regular business hours, and occasionally on evenings and weekends as needed to staff outreach events and RTSNV‐hosted community workdays. Regular attendance is required in accordance with a regular schedule established for the position by the Project Manager. Must be able to pass a background check.

Compensation:

This is a full-time position paying between $18 and $25 an hour (DOE). Paid time off, medical, dental and vision, 401k matching, as well as company vehicle.

GRANT WRITER / DEVELOPMENT STAFF

Full Time Position

Reports To: Executive Director

Salary: $50,000-$60,000

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepares proposals by gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
  • Responsible for private foundation, corporate, and government grants (local, state, federal).
  • Determines proposal concepts by identifying and clarifying opportunities and requirements, studying requests for proposals (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings.
  • Meets proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Enters and monitors tracking data.
  • Coordinates requirements with contributors and compiles proposal status information to review meetings.
  • Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
  • Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
  • Obtains approvals by reviewing proposals with key providers and project managers.
  • Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approaches, coordination, and boilerplate.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform comprehensive research of grant opportunities through traditional and non- traditional (creative and curious) methods.
  • Manage grant-related administrative processes including (but not limited to) communicating new grants opportunities to appropriate RTSNV team members, uploading all information to the organization database, ensuring approved language is properly stored for organization-wide use, flagging report due dates.
  • Cultivates foundation relationships through timely impact reports and regular touchpoints.
  • Manages grant portfolio and assists with grant reporting.
  • Supports the goals of RTSNV leadership through miscellaneous projects such as communications work and partnerships, as needed.

Work Hours & Benefits:

  • Office hours are Monday – Thursday, 8AM – 4PM and Fridays, 8AM – Noon
  • RTSNV keeps a State and Federal Holiday Calendar
  • RTSNV pays the first $500.00 of monthly premium and will reimburse up to 600.00 / year for Dental & Vision Copayments (when provided documentation of payment of copayment)
  • You will receive 128 (16 days) hours of PTO your 1st through 5th year, 168 hours (21 days), 5th – 10th year and 208 hours (26 days) after the 10th year
  • You will receive 11 paid holidays off
  • After 12 months of employment, you will qualify for the Company 401k plan managed by Paychex. The company will match up to 3.5 % of your 6%
  • Paydays are on the 15th and last day of the month

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and 1-3 years’ experience in professional writing and/or grant writing.
  • Proven track record in raising funds via grants including federal, foundation, and corporate grants.
  • Excellent written, oral communications and interpersonal skills; ability to listen and assess the interests of various audiences and communicate ideas in person or in writing in a clear and articulate manner to compel individuals to action.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to fund development activities and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others.
  • Previous experience with fundraising or project management software programs like Salesforce, Foundation Center, etc.
  • Self-starter and team player with energy, resourcefulness, and a flexible mindset
  • Flexibility to occasionally work in the evenings and/or on weekends in order to support or attend meetings and events, and to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, social media, database, etc.
  • Able to satisfactorily pass a Criminal History Check to include sex offender registry, State Police, and FBI.
